grooming for the betterment

Why was the ABWGF created?

Traditional grooming education has historically focused on technical styling skills.

However, modern grooming professionals are increasingly expected to understand behaviour, welfare, communication, handling, emotional wellbeing and ethical decision making procedures.

The Applied Behaviour and Welfare Grooming Framework was developed to bring these areas together in one evidence-informed professional model.

It’s purpose is simple:

To improve outcomes for dogs while supporting groomers to make informed, compassionate and ethical decisions.

Printed versions of the framework will be available to purchase soon.

What is the Framework?

The Applied Behaviour and Welfare Grooming Framework is not a qualification.

It is a professional guidance framework that defines the principles, behaviours, and standards underpinning ethical, behaviour-led grooming.

Education providers, trainers and professionals may use the framework to inform learning, practice and continuing professional development.
